ATP roundup: Francis Tiafo in Daniel Evans London opener

The British Wild Card Daniel Evans took 7 Seed Frances Tiafo below 7-5, 6–2 in the first round of the HSBC Championship at Queen Club in London on Monday.

Birmingham, 35-year-old, England’s 35-year-old has fallen in the ATP rankings till 199, but it did not make any difference as he won 25 out of 33 first-service points (76 percent) and changed 6 out of 9 break-point opportunities to strengthen the soil of the house.

Russia’s number 3 Seed Daniel Medvedev needed just 63 minutes to reduce Germany’s wild card Daniel Altmier, 6-3, 6-3 in the first round in Hall Hall.

Medvedev fired seven aces and upgraded to the France’s Quentin Hali, who defeated the country’s Benjamin Bonzi 6-4, 6-4.

In a pair of three-sectors, Greece’s Stifanos Tsitipus placed Italy’s Luciano Dordery in a past of 6-4, 3-6, 7-6 (5), while Hungary’s Fabian Marozson was setting up Serbia’s Miomyovic 6-7 (3), 6-4, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4. Alexander Bublike of Kazakhstan, who won the tournament in 2023, defeated Alexandre Muller of France 6-4, 6-4 in an one-hour flat.
