WTA Roundup: Amanda Anisimova reaches London final

Number 8 Seed Amanda Anisimova entered his first grass-court final from Chinese top seed Zheng Kinwen at the HSBC Championship in London on Saturday from 6-2, 4-6, 6-4 to 6-4.

Anisimova rescued 10 out of 15 break points and overcame nine double defects to win in two hours and 13 minutes. He changed seven out of nine brake opportunities and Zheng posted his own eight double defects.

Germany’s unplanned Tatjana Maria spoiled the opportunity for an all-American WTA 500 final against 6-3, 7-6 (3) against the number 2 seed Madison Keys in 89 minutes. Maria rescued the only break point that faced and won 89 per cent marks behind her first series (42 out of 42) to reach her first final since 2023.

Belgium’s number 3 Seed Alice Martens won 2-6, 7-6 (7), 6-4 against Russia’s No. 2 Seed Ekaterina Alexandrova in the semi-finals in the semi-finals in the semi-finals.

Mertens survived the 11 match points in the second set and overcade 10 double defects to win in two hours and 49 minutes. In the match, Martens saved 16 out of 21 break points.

Elisbetta Coksiarato of Italy, carrying forward 2-6, 6–4, 6-3, without Romanian Elena-Gabriela Russia also needed three sets. Ruse, who won his only WTA tour title on Hamburg Clay in 2021, required four match points in the final game to eliminate Koksiato.
