WTA Roundup: Emma Navaro saves the match point, wins in London

Third seed Emma Navaro saved a match point before rally to win as Americans overtook 3–0 in the second round of the HSBC Championship in London on Wednesday.
Navaro ralled 1-6, 7-6 (4), Brazil’s Beatries Head Mia for a 6-3 win, who took a 5-4 lead in the second set and a 4-2 lead in the upcoming tiebreak. Navaro advanced to quarterfinals against compatriot and number 8 Seed Amanda Anisimova, who was 6–1, 6-3 winners on Sonay Kartal, Britain in 64 minutes.
Number 2 Seed Madison Keys won 6-3, 6–2 in the quarter-finals against Russian qualifier Anastasia Zakharova. Below an early break on 3–1, Keys won 11 of the next 13 matches. Tatjana Maria of Germany also reached 6-7 (3), 7-5, 6–1 in the final eight with Karolina Muchova.

Canadian qualifier Carson Branstine, ranked at number 231 in the world, pulled 6-4, 5-7, 6-1 6–1 to the first round of Russian Liyudmila Samsonova ‘S-Harrtogenbosh, Netherlands.
A surprising win over the defending champion, in a match that was suspended on Tuesday and resumed on Wednesday, the first WTA of the 24 -year -old Brainstine’s career came to the main draw match.
Number 2 Seed Ekaterina Alexandrova defeated fellow Russian Anna Blinkova 6–0, 7-5 to reach the quarter-finals. The next number 8 Seed for Alexandrova is another nationwide in Veronica Kudematova, which excluded the Greet Minen of Belgium 6-4, 6-1 in 74 minutes.
Elisbetta Cosecarto of Italy also moved into the quarter-finals with Bernarda Pera’s 6–1, 7-6 (4) necklace. The winners in the first round matches on Wednesday included Maria Sakkari of Greece and Elena-Gabriela Ruz of Romania.
