Carlos Santana had a contract proposal with both Cleveland Guardian and Seattle Meriners, for two teams he played earlier, the previous offsen.
Experienced first Basman selected a year, $ 12 million deal with Guardians, allegedly passed a meriners offer which included more guaranteed money and a player option for 2026.
Santana and Guardians will be in Seattle for the three-game series starting on Friday.
“God gave me so much opportunity,” Santana said, which played from 2010-17 and again for Cleveland in 2019-20. “I am blessed. Long career, 15 years. I am excited and happy, especially coming back to Cleveland. This organization gave me so much opportunity, and twice ahead and back. I am happy for it.”
The 39-year-old celebrated the 15th anniversary of his leading league with a Grand Slam in a 11–2 victory against a visit to Cincinnati, as the parents avoided a season sweep by their kingdom rivals.
This was Santana’s sixth career Grand Slam and was the first since September 19, 2022, while Los Angeles Angels with Meriners in a win.
“Fifteen years in the big league; it’s ridiculous,” said the guardian manager Stephen Vogt. “It is clearly a will to be very, very good, but take care of yourself. It is difficult to play because you grow up, and he still does it at an elite level. It is a will for his hard work.”
Sparking by Slam in Santana, Guardians broke aggressively after an average of just 2.6 runs in his last nine matches this month-a span in which he left 3-6.
Vogt admitted in the first week that “a lot of people” were trying to do much.
“It seemed that we were not pressurizing,” Vogt said about Wednesday’s victory. “We were waiting for our pitch, and when we obtained it, we didn’t miss it. And this happens when you relax. This happens when you just go there, look for a pitch and become yourself, do not try to do more.
“This is a big win,” Vogt said. “Every victory is big, but (especially) before going on a cross-country flight. It’s a good feeling to reach the aircraft.”
Meriners free-calling continues as they have lost eight of their last nine matches.
Seattle has also fought aggressively, scoring just 28 runs on that nine-game stretch.
Meriners Pitcher Bryan Wu said, “The baseball sometimes kills your (rear); it is just a kind of how it is.” “Nobody feels regretted for us. Nobody is giving us any victory. We have got to make our luck.
“We must be present for the next game,” Wu continued. “As much as the last two weeks have been really sucked, yet it has got too much baseball to play. It is still June.”
The right-handed Gavin Williams (5-3, 3.86 ERA) is scheduled to take a mound for parents in the series opener, while merriners are expected to start the right-handed Louis Castilo (4-4, 3.31).
Williams, the first round draft in 2021, is 3–1 with 2.89 ERA in seven from early May. He did not get a decision despite a quality begins on Saturday against Houston in a game, The Guardians lost 5–3 in 10 innings. Williams will face mariners for the first time.
Castilo on Saturday lost his last start with 8-6 host angels. He allowed six runs (four acquired) on eight hits – including three domestic runs – while no one was running and taking out five. His last win was on May 19, when he hurled seven shutouts and defeated hosts Chicago White Socks 5–1 to got five hits and three hits with five strikes.
Castilo is 1-5 with 4.98 ERA and 50 strikeouts in 47 innings in nine careers against Cleveland.
