Ottawa will be without Red -Lac Quarterback Drew Brown when they will host Montreal Ulorets on Friday night.

Brown injured his hip during the fourth quarter of season-opening 31-26, losing 31–26 to Suskechewan Reflercare and was rejected on Wednesday.

This is a major setback for Ottawa (0–1), when brown is passed for 413 yards and two tuchdowns in week 1.

Matt Shiltz, who holds 6-7 career records as a starter, will take over.

“Matt will start and we will move in that direction,” Redblack coach Bob Dies told reporters. “If I put an estimate in danger, I think (brown) may be ready for the week 3.”

Shiltz played with Montreal in his first CFL game in 2017, and Ottawa is his fourth team. He is in his initial campaign with redblacks.

In 89 Career Games, Shiltz has thrown 4,795 yards, 21 touchdowns and 20 interception.

Ottawa also received bad news on the protective side of the ball. Safety Alonjo added for the season due to an elbow injury.

“I feel terrible for her,” Dies said about Edi. “I know he will come back strong. He is mentally strong and he will fight through it.”

Redblack receiver Eugene Lewis caught a touchdown pass in the opener and has at least one scoring reception in nine straight games, one from the all-time CFL Mark organized by Terry Evanshane (1967–68) of Calgary Stampders.

Montreal (1-0) will rely on Davis Alexander, the first quarterback in the franchise history, which made its first five debut. Alexander directed Uluts to win a 28–10 domestic victory over Toronto Argonats in week 1.

Alexander passed for a blockage against 205 yards, a touchdown and Toronto. His touchdown pass went to Tyson Philopot, who was playing for the first time after injuring a leg in August.

“This is the fruit of the work I did during offsen,” the Philopot said, who had four catches for 48 yards. “Without being dramatic, it has been 300 days, 42 weeks and nine months since I last played. I missed this atmosphere.”

Montreal’s defensive lineman Isaac Edemy-Beglund returned a fambal 18 yard for a touchdown, which helps lead a unit to lead a unit to lead a unit to lead a unit that allowed the lowest points in week 1 and the second-Sabse-Gaja (276).

Alouettes also want to continue their dominance of redblacks. He has won the last eight overall meetings in Ottawa and the last 10.
