Liberty improves record with easy win over the sky

Sabarina Ioncu scored 23 points and Branna Stewart added 18, which inspired New York’s independence to win an 85-66 in Chicago Akash on Tuesday.

INESCU made 9 out of 14 shots from the floor and added seven assistance and four thefts as New York (9–0) to the WNBA Commissioner Cup Play.

Stewart also had seven rebounds and five assistance for Liberty, which made 47.9 percent of his shots from the floor.

Kennedy Burke drowned all his three 3-point shots from the bench to highlight a 15-point performance from the bench for Liberty, who defeated Chicago (2-6) for the second time this season. New York provoked the 99–74 victory over Akash on 22 May.

New York’s Nyara Sabli scored nine points, while his first career started WNBA in place of Jonquel Jones, sitting out due to a perfect ankle injury.

Chicago’s Angel Reese made 8 out of 13 shots to finish season-high with 17 points. He also had 11 rebounds.

Ariel Etkins added 11 points to Sky, who played 22 turnover while playing in their first game, as Curtney Wandersloot maintained season-ending ACL.

In attendance at the Barclays Center, with the French Open champion Coco Goff, New York raced with a 12–0 lead and took out of the blocks. Saballi and Stewart scored with five points and highlighted the bounce.

INESCU created three-point plays, a mid-range jumper and 3-pointer during the last three minutes of the first quarter, benefiting Liberty 26–15 at the end of the quarter.

New York set its foot on the gas as Leoni Fiabich submerged the 3-pointer and Burke did the same on the late coming possession in the second quarter. Burke made another pair from the corner with 1.4 seconds to play Liberty with a 52–32 gains in halftime.

New York scored 17 straight points to bridge the third and fourth quarters and dropped the game out of reach.
