MLS “Retaliator ‘response for Players Union CWC proposal

The MLS Players Association on Sunday responded in a fight in compensation around the prize money and compensation around the upcoming club World Cup competition against the league’s most recent offering.
The MLSPA said in a statement, “The time of the proposal sends a clear message: MLS does not respect or value the players’ efforts regarding this tournament. Although not surprised, players and MLSPAs have deep disappointment with this message.”
The MLS on Friday submitted the latest resolution after several Seattle Soundlers players protesting on 1 June, who wore a shirt reading “Club World Cash Grab” and “Fair Share” in front of fans in the Lumen Field, which they say they say that there is an inappropriate distribution of money from international tournaments.
FIFA announces that each participant in the Club World Cup would get $ 9.55 million with additional prize money on the basis of performance. The League says that each club has to pay only 1 million dollars of tournament prize money, as per the current terms of the collective bargain agreement.
LAFC, Inter Miami CF and Seattle Sounders Club are participating in the World Cup, starting on Saturday and run in 11 American cities from 11 July.
In a statement on Sunday, the League said that according to its increased proposal, 20 percent of all the prize money earned from the group’s phase will be allocated to the players.
However, MLSPA said in a Sunday statement that 20 percent of the latest offering of back-end compensation was “below the international standard”.
MLSPA also stated that the latest proposal “did not add a single dollar to the players of $ 28,650,000, which would be paid by FIFA to MLS” and maintains the share of the players of that amount “barely 10% percent.”
The talks are expected to continue.
The league’s statement stated, “The League has continued dedication and commitment to its players and is ready to support them as they represent their clubs – and Major League Soccer – on the global stage, in this summer, on the global stage,” the league’s statement said.
