Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli to play the last ODI series in Australia? Cricket Australia planned to farewell

Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have been two stalwarts in OD cricket and have scored a huge score in the format over the years.

The retirement of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma from Test cricket is a big loss. The announcements were rather sudden and the duo could not even get farewell matches. Retirement from T20 had come after India won the World Cup title in 2024. So, the only format the duo are active in, is the ODIs.

Virat Kohli & Rohit Sharma Active in Only ODIs

And for all you know, Virat Kohli and ROhit Sharma might call it a day on their international careers after 2027 World Cups as well. So, for Australia, where both batters are hugely popular, the upcoming ODI series Down Under might be the last chance to host them. As per a report in the Hindustan Times, Cricket Australia’s CEO Todd Greenberg said they are planning a special farewell for both players during the October tour.

CA Planning a Farewell?

“This might be the last time that we get to see Virat Kohli or Rohit Sharma play in our country. And if that is the case, who knows, it might not be, but if it is, we wanna make sure we give them a great send-off and a reflection of the incredible contribution they’ve made to international cricket,” Todd Greenberg said.

After the IPL, both Virat and Rohit could be first seen in action during the Bangladesh ODIs. But their participation is still not confirmed, and a call could be taken closer to August, with the series starting on the 17th of the month. Virat has played 302 ODIs till now, where he has scored over 14000 runs, at an average of 58, while Rohit has played 273 matches, and scored over 11000 runs.
