Katie Leedki dominates 1500 for the third title at the US swimming championship

Katie Leadeki won the third national title of the week on Saturday, when she won the women’s 1500 meter win at the US Swimming Championships in Indianapolis.

Leadeki won the program in 15 minutes, 36.76 seconds, which was 16 seconds of the world record set in 2018.

“I just wanted to swim together, holding a good speed,” Leadeki later said. “It’s an injury, but I will take it.”

Leadeki took a major lead in the entire race. Jillian Cox fell 29 seconds behind in 16: 05.88 and Kate Hurt reached the wall in 16: 16.06.

Leadeki earned the title 400 and 800 meters earlier in the meeting.

Greatchen Walsh also won the third title of the week by winning 50 freestyle in 23.91 seconds to set the US record. Tory Hussey (23.98) finished second and Katie Douglas (24.04) finished third.

Walsh’s other wins came in 50 butterfly and 100 butterfly.

Bobby Faine, while winning in 7: 43.13, dominated the men’s 800 meters, raised his third title of meat. Rex Maurr (7: 49.53) and David Johnson (7: 49.85) were in the next line.

“I was just trying to run people behind me,” Finke said. “I knew they were having an incredible meeting.”

Finke also won 400 individual medals and 1500 freestyle.

In 200 individual medals, Shine Cassus (1: 55.73) staged the Carson Foster (1: 55.76) to win.

Alex Walsh defeated the female 200 IM in 2: 08.45, Foebe Bacon (2: 09.22).

Jack Alexi swims 21.36 seconds to win men’s 50 free. Santo Kondoreli (21.68) was second.
