Shubman Gill’s credentials suspected, the foreign number is “not healthy as a batsman, let’s go alone as captain”

Shubman Gill Yuga has begun in Indian cricket. The 25 -year -old star was named captain of the Indian cricket team for the tour of England starting on June 20. In 25, Gill has become one of the youngest players to hold office in recent years. Although he lacks captaincy experience in the Red-Ball format, he has led India to the five-match T20 eye assignment in Zimbabwe in 2024. He was the deputy of Rohit Sharma in India’s winning Champions Trophy campaign in UAE in February 2025. In Test cricket, Gill has played 32 matches and scored 1,893 runs with five centuries.

Former India opener Akash Chopra has called Shubman Gill ‘Investment of Vishwas’ as India Test captain.

“Many (of challenges) actually in Test cricket. If it had been a one -day format, we would be absolutely right. He is a successor. He is clear as Vice Captain for a significant period. So, we saw it, but even when you talk about Test cricket, he is still trying to find a place for himself, especially out of it. Told Espncricinfo.

“So, I see it as an investment of faith. You see someone, you see the promise and capacity. You go with the man with great hope and believe with a few beliefs that we are making the right choice.”

Batting coach Sanjay Bangar believes that the decisions taken by Ajit Agkar’s selection committee will be “vendicized” if the Indian test side under the new captain Shubman Gill exits a chain win in England.

In 90 years of Test cricket against England, India won the Test series three times in 1971, 1986 and 2007.

“If this group of players manages to win a test series in England, I think it is going to be a great start for their (Gill’s) leadership tenure,” Bangar told Gehotstar after Gill was declared as the new Test skipper.

Bangar said, “The call that has been taken goes on the way to India. I hope that it will be a series in which you will win some Test matches, and if you stagger in the other side, you can just win the series.”

Bangar also resonated Ajit Agkar’s spirit that Pace Spearhead Jasprit Bumrah should not be overburden.

“First, we have to make sure that Bumrah is not overburded. This is the place where the team management will have a large scale impact using the bowling line-up chosen around it.

“We saw in the Australia series, there were a lot of all-rounders, and Bumrah was over-experimental because the team wanted to bowl him all the time, and impressed his bowling speed. In one of the tests, he was below 120–129.

Bangar gave his opinion.
