Former Indian cricket team batter Nawajot Singh Sidhu believes that Jasprit Bumrah is an ideal candidate to become the next Test captain. Next to the announcement of the squad for the England series, Sidhu said that Bumrah would be the right choice as a captain, considering his excellent performance abroad. After Rohit Sharma’s retirement, the selectors faced the challenge of choosing the new captain. While Bumrah was the vice-captain in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia and even led a few occasions, Shubman Gill has emerged as the top contender.

“The difficult situation, right? Without a captain, without a strong leader, it is impossible to those infections. Who is the person who says, I stand in front of the line; I will lead for example?

“Look, how the team is playing together. So, who would believe that, yes, this is the person who can lead us? I think it is Bumrah. And why do I talk about him? Because all demonstrations have come abroad. Now I hear a lot of things that are not injured. The heaviest burden in life is heard that can be heard,” not, “they are not,” they said.

However, Sidhu was praising all for Gill as a batsman and said that he should either open batting or play at number 3. He also said that KL Rahul should replace Virat Kohli at number 4.

“I am all for Gill. But the batsman is Gill. If you make him a captain in Test cricket, make him open or play it at number 3. Then do not put a protective shield on him. Then you have to indicate that he is our captain. We are playing it for a year.

“Because a strong man does not need a protective shield. Even if you play Sarfaraz there. Last time you took Sarfaraz on a tour. I will play Shreyas Iyer. You don’t want to keep Shreyas Iyer in Recking. Bring Karun Nair. My goal is to play KL Rahul 4.”
