According to the International Cricket Council (ICC), all -rounder Roston Chase has been appointed as the new captain of the West Indies Test team, in which Jomel Warrican has declared his deputy, Cricket West Indies (CWI) on Friday. In its official release, CWI highlighted a strong data-managed selection process, causing six candidates to be due to shortlisting, John Campbell, Tevin Imlach, Joshua da Silva, Justin Greaves, Chess and Warrican for the role. Shortlisted candidates were evaluated on several major factors, including test experience, leadership properties, and pre -captaincy credentials.

Chase, which brings experience from 49 tests and 86 limited overs international people, takes charge from the Krigag Brathwaite, who stepped down from the role in March 2025.
Speaking on the appointment, head coach Daren Sammy said, “I fully support this appointment. Our new captain has earned the honor of his comrades, understands the responsibility coming with the role, and showed the leadership qualities to take this team forward,” has been quoted from the ICC.
“I urge fans throughout the region to rally after him-we are making something special,” he said.
Chase’s first assignment as a Test captain will be a three -match series against Australia in June, which will be one of the initial competitions in the new ICC World Test Championship Chakra.
