Karun Nair came close to his long -running dream of playing again for the Senior Mains cricket team on Friday as he was selected in a squad in India who would visit England. After some eye -holding performances in domestic cricket, Nair finally is a good run away from making the senior India squad again. Nair started his India in 2016, but failed to play for a long time despite scoring triple hundred in tests. Once he came out of the team, he never returned. After being out of the state of Karnataka in 2022, he posted a hearty note on social media. “Dear cricket, give me another chance,” Nair wrote on X.

An impressive performance for India A in England will definitely open doors for the right -handed batsman, especially at a time when Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have left the format.
Recalling Nair’s 2022 social media posts, former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan took X to write, “Karun Nair is being selected for India, this is a clear indication that Dear Cricket will give him another chance to play again for Team India.”

Karnataka -born batsman, now represents Vidarbha in domestic cricket, has kept a dream season together. In the 2024-25 Vijay Hazare Trophy, he scored 779 runs in eight innings, of which he took Vidarbha in the finals in five centuries. But it was not Nair. He scored 863 runs in nine matches with a surprising Ranji Trophy campaign, including a significant century and a fifty in the final against Kerala, guiding Vidarbha.
Nair’s return, if this happens, will mark one of the most compelling redemption arcs of Indian cricket. Despite an average of 62.33 and a historic triple hundred in six tests, Nair was sidelined, never a really extended run. He was part of the 2018 England tour team, but never got the game.
