When Golden State Volcaries play WNBA on Friday night, the initial goal is to be simply competitive.

Extension Valkyries begins to chase the mission when they face Los Angeles Sparks in San Francisco.

The Golden State can use one hand to count the win by the WNBA’s final expansion team. Atlanta’s dream increased to 4-30 in its first season in 2008.

Valkyries coach Natalie Nakez is aware of that fact and welcomes the challenge of keeping a team together for a long race.

“I am not afraid of this,” Nakez told reporters. “I really embrace hard work. I embrace the creation of a new culture, a new franchise, a new community.”

The Golden State Roster consists of shooting guard Tiffany Hayes and Point Guard Julie Vanalu.

The 35 -year -old Hayes enters his 13th WNBA season after getting 9.5 points and 2.1 aid in the last season last season of the league’s sixth player. Nakse was an assistant coach for the aces.

Hayes said, “I know that the biggest thing for me for this team is that I can get almost anyone in this league.” “So it’s like my role, I want to become a playwright.”

The 32 -year -old Vanlu is a two -time Olympian for Belgium. He played earlier in the previous season with 7.4 points for Washington Mistics and 4.3.

The franchise in 2024-Sparks has a new roster after struggling through a bad 8-32 season.

Los Angeles signed an offsen deal with ACES to Land Guard Kelsey Plum-three-year and two-time WNBA Champion-for-three. Plum scored more than 17 points per game in each of the last three sessions, but does not want to talk about 30 -year -old guard data.

“I am trying to impress my attention,” Plum told reporters. “There are many people who can have empty statistics. But I am really focusing on how I can help win this team. I think I think we were last year and my goal is to change it enough. I think personal numbers will come.”

Plum’s former Las Vegas team partner, further deerica Hambi, is the top returning player in Sparks. He led the squad in the last season in Scoring (17.3 PPG), Rebounding (9.2 RPG) and theft (1.7 SPG).

Los Angeles is also eagerly waiting for the return of Cameron Brink, who tore ACL in his left knee in the last June. The number 2 overall pick of 2024 drafts took an average of 7.5 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.3 blocked shots in 15 games before injuring.

“Sparks are doing really good work to support fully through this process,” Brink said.
