33 runs in 1 over: CSK coach explains why MS Dhoni went with Khalil Ahmed vs RCB in the 19th over

Chennai Super Kings head coach Stephen Fleming, despite leaking 33 runs in the 19th over against Royal Challengers Bangalore, defeated Pacer Khalel Ahmed, but said he would search for more options to move forward in the Indian Premier League. CSK captain MS Dhoni turned to Ahmed despite the impressive Ansul Kamboj (3–0-25-0), but the remaining one is more than one, but the left-arm quickly became quick under the Romario Shepherd’s attack. “Khalil has performed really well for us in this season, therefore, there is no reason for MS to change it. Combose is growing well in his role. He has the ability to do death (more than bowling). That would be an option that is to move forward, but there was no reason that Khalil would be replaced to do so.”

Until Shepherd followed him, Ahmed actually counted the most dot-ball in this IPL in 110, three more than Mohammad Sirraj.

Fleming then chased 214, after a 10 -over point in CSK’s innings, he completed the lack of big runs, as his side ended at 211 for five, which fell down by only two runs.

“If there was a big one, we would have won, but they would bowl well. We knew that a steep climb was going to be held towards the end, but we maintained a very good rate.

“And then when it came down at the end of the business it was just one or two hits away. Of course, we were one big to go 10 overs, but it didn’t just come about,” he said.

However, the former Kiwi captain saw some bright places in the emergence of some young players despite the defeat this season for Super Kings.

“It was a much better performance, but in just a few areas where we had lost concentration and they were particularly punched in the last two overs of fielding efforts.

“And then we were actually battling really well. This is one of our struggles this year, but there were some personal performances that we really proud,” he said.

Fleming again reiterated that a young core unit would want to build a young core unit keeping in mind the future versions of the CSK League, but without renouncing experience in its rank.

“Given that our season has been a conflict, we always want to review and move forward. So, while it feels doom and disappointment, we are finding some talents and finding some evidence to carry forward a good case for a good team for a good team next year.

“But we still give importance to the experience. If you look at the tournament figures, you will see a lot of players who are experienced players, so the balance is that we are later. We have earned some good benefits in it,” he explained.

But Fleming did not overcome the fact that the CSK’s trend was hurting for all those associated with the franchise to lose in close matches.

“This is heavy weight. We have high expectations. All of us who are involved in the day-to-day training of the team are hurting.

“This is not the one you have planned. You are looking a little behind you, which we could do better, and it is just natural.

“But we are also firmly looking forward to ensure that we can take some advantage in the next three matches and be in a situation that we can compete better next year,” he said.
