After winning 6-4, 5-7, 6-3, 7-6 (6) against the fifth seed Taylor Fritz in London, two-time defending champion Carlos Alakraj has returned to the Wimbledon final.

The 27 -year -old Fritz fell short of becoming the first American man to reach Wimbledon’s final since Andy Rodic in 2009. He has lost all three of his matches against Alkaraz.

Alkaraz extended the line of his career’s best win into 24 matches and is trying to join the Swedish Great Byorn Borg, which is the only male to sweep the French Open and Wimbledon in three direct years. Borg did it from 1978-80.

“I am not thinking about winning streak or results. It is my dream, stepping on these beautiful courts and playing tennis in the world’s most beautiful tournament,” said Alakraj. “All this I try to think in every tournament and why do I try to bring happiness in the courts.”

Alakraj is trying to become a fifth man in the open era, joining Djokovic, Roger Federer, Pete Semaprass and Borg, to win at least three directly Wimbledon titles.
